Folklore band “Rusichi”

Folklore band “Rusichi” was found in 1998 under the society of Slavic cultures. From the year 2000 the band “Rusichi” is the collective of Sillamäe Cultural Centre. The repertoire of folklore band “Rusichi” consists of folk songs of various genres, conventionalized songs, and popular songs of 1950’es – 1980’es of last century. All together there are more than 50 songs from different regions of Russia and of various folklore tendencies: wedding, calendar, round dancing, playing, lyrical, dancing, chastooshkas etc.

The band participates in festival “Slavic Wreath” (Tallinn), constant participant of festival of Slavic cultures in Sillamäe, of regional song festivals in Toila, “Play accordion!” in Narva. Took part in TV program “Semyonovna” (ORT, Moscow) etc.

The band gave concerts in different towns and cities of Estonia and Russia: Tallinn, Narva, Pärnu, Jõhvi, Kohtla-Jarve, Kiviõli, Mustvee, Kallaste, Viljandi, Kingisepp and Moscow.

Folklore band “Rusichi”, for all the time of its existence, took part in more than 130 combined and 50 independent concerts.

From the year 2003 a children’s group started to work in ensemble. Folklore band “Rusichi” consists of more than 20 people.
